TRACES (Try-out)

For the programme Traces, composer Wilbert Bulsink writes a cycle for four-hand piano and sampler, commissioned by piano duo Rabbit&Haas (Hanke Scheffer and Tamara Laverman). The sampler draws from field recordings he made in 2010 along the edges of Europe during a cycling journey through Scandinavia, the Baltic States, Belarus, Ukraine, Romania and Turkey: voices in different languages, sheep, dogs, cattle, crickets, (church) bells, engines, the acoustics of cathedrals, radar domes and mountain valleys, choral singing, minaret recitations, karaoke, wind, thunder, fire, rain - in the distance, too close, distorted, blown away. All of this blends with live piano sounds, performed by Rabbit&Haas.

During this try-out, the first parts will be heard. Wilbert Bulsink explains his creative process and the project's background, and pianist/composer Tamara Laverman presents the first sketches of the composition she is writing for the same programme.
