Oorverdovend: HESKEN + Release the River + Crush
On Friday, 6 November, Poppodium Corneel hosts a metal night called Corneel Oorverdovend, featuring three Dutch bands: HESKEN, Release the River and Crush.
HESKEN hails from Zwolle and combines death metal aggression with progressive influences. The band cites Opeth, Gojira, Death and Tool as reference points and is known for groove-driven, avant-garde tracks and explosive live shows.
Release the River is a power trio from Leiden that blends blackened death metal and hardcore. Their debut album 'Virtues of the Vile' came out recently; their live shows are as relentless as the record.
Crush is a heavy rock band from Flevoland. Drawing from blues, stoner rock, soul and funk, they explore the boundary between the raw energy of the early 1970s and the intensity of 1990s grunge. Thick grooves and raw riffs are central to their approach.
