Canto Ostinato in the Martinikerk

Canto Ostinato takes place on 23 September 2026 in the Martinikerk in Groningen, the striking Gothic monument that has shaped the city's skyline for centuries. The church, largely built in the 15th and 16th centuries, provides an intimate setting for Simeon ten Holt's classical composition. This is one of three Dutch performances of Canto Ostinato scheduled this year - after Groningen, the work will be heard in Katwijk aan Zee and Middelburg. The piece is known for its repeating tones that create a hypnotic, trance-like character. The Martinikerk, closely connected to the adjacent Martinitoren, offers a distinctive acoustic environment for this minimalist classic.
