Rock of Ages Plays Bowie

Rock of Ages from IJsselstein performs a concert on 28 November at Astrant in Ede that is accessible to everyone: young and old, hearing and deaf. A music interpreter will be present for deaf and hard-of-hearing visitors.

The idea for this concert has a personal background. Eight years ago, the band already performed at the deaf centre De Gelderhorst in Ede, at the initiative of singer Jeroen Stam, whose deaf mother lived there. That performance was so well-received that residents and staff still talk about it.

Rock of Ages, formed around 2017 from experienced musicians, is not a tribute band that imitates David Bowie in detail. The band plays Bowie covers in its own arrangement, supplemented by two backing vocalists - because Bowie's music calls for it, according to the band. Bowie songs have long been part of their repertoire; singer Jeroen Stam feels particularly at home with them, which explains the choice of this theme.
