Bodies of Water
Haringhuizen – St. Willibrorduskerk, Haringhuizen
During Open Monuments Day on 12 and 13 September, the video installation Bodies of Water by photographer Jeske Dijkstra is on display at St. Willibrorduskerk in Haringhuizen, presented in collaboration with Stichting Cultuur in de Noordkop (CiNK).
Five video projectors spread the images across 36 metres in length and 6 metres in height in the church's Visual Storytelling Centre. Bodies of Water consists of intimate, unedited portraits of water - so abstract they are mistaken for paintings. The soundscape is composed by sound designer Rutger Muller and features music from Vox Cosmica, based on the work of Hildegard von Bingen and sung by Arianna Savall and Petter Udland Johansen. Visitors experience the projection seated or lying down, scattered throughout the church, while the sound reaches them from all directions.
Screenings run every twenty minutes between 10:00 and 17:00. Jeske Dijkstra is present both days and gives a brief introduction around the screenings. Admission is free and on a walk-in basis.
The project was made possible in part by a contribution from Hoogheemraadschap Hollands Noorderkwartier (HHNK). For more information, visit www.cultuurindenoordkop.nl.
