Duo 12-21: Classical & Electric Guitars

Duo 12-21 consists of Portuguese Bárbara Macedo (2004) and Estonian Kelly Johannes (2003), both guitar students at the Amsterdam Conservatory under Gabriel Bianco.

The duo alternates between classical and electric guitar, bringing these two worlds into dialogue. The name 12-21 reflects this idea of contrast and connection: two elements that share a common identity despite their differences.

Their programme features works from the classical tradition - from J.S. Bach and C. Debussy - alongside music by contemporary composers such as Steve Reich, Philip Glass and Tõnu Kõrvits. They also perform their own arrangements of jazz musicians including Tigran Hamasyan and Brad Mehldau.
