Echoes from the South
Echoes from the South - Film + Dinner + Dialogue
This is the first edition of 'Echoes from the South': an evening of Latin American cinema, a moderated discussion, and a shared Uruguayan dinner.
Screened is El amor duerme en la calle (Love Sleeps on the Street), a documentary by Uruguayan director Guzmán García. The film follows homeless people in Montevideo searching for love - building relationships, caring for one another, holding onto something real in circumstances that make everything harder. At its heart is love as a driving force: what keeps us hopeful and alive, even when everything else is uncertain.
After the screening, a panel discussion with experts on homelessness, harm reduction, and social exclusion in the Netherlands, complemented by testimonies from people with lived experience. The evening concludes with an informal Uruguayan dinner, with space to continue the conversation at the table.
