Bliksem bij Heldere Hemel

Muziektheater De Plaats presents the new music theatre production Bliksem bij Heldere Hemel at De Zoetenlab on Arnhems Buiten (Electricity Campus), the former KEMA site at Utrechtseweg 310 in Arnhem. For decades, this location was used for experiments with enormous electrical voltages and controlled explosions - that history is not merely a backdrop, but an active part of the production.

The production explores what drives us to pursue ever greater technological progress: genuine curiosity, idealism, but also money, power and patents. Within capitalism, who gets the chance to invent something, and who ultimately profits most from it?

Directed by Bogi Bakker, known for Struinen. The text is by Jannemieke Caspers, who previously wrote Kleur Bekennen and Stof tot Stof. Alongside the professional cast, Muziektheater De Plaats collaborates with amateur associations, including choirs from the region.
