Dreams in Wood. The Story of Zaanse Schans

When wooden houses and mills in Zaandam threatened to disappear in the mid-20th century, a rescue programme was launched: the Zaanse Schans. This exhibition at the Zaans Museum tells how this neighbourhood with its mills and green houses gained worldwide appeal and became a symbol of 'authentic Netherlands'.
