Bambie Performs Bambi

Mime theatre group Bambie takes its name from the famous young deer, so a performance about Bambi was a natural choice. But which Bambi story do they tell?

The Disney film shows a fairy-tale forest full of friendly talking animals, where Bambi grows up to become a happy father of new fawns. The book on which that film is based is considerably darker. Felix Salten wrote his novel in 1923 in Austria, and in it nature is merciless - Bambi ends up alone.
