Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's 'The Little Prince' first appeared in 1946 and is considered the most translated book in French literature - last year the count stood at over 160 translations, not counting film adaptations and musicals.

In 1999, the book ranked fourth in a poll of the 100 best books of the twentieth century, organized by Le Monde.
