Björn van der Doelen and the Huursoldaten

Björn van der Doelen has spent years moving between musician, storyteller and performer. The press is enthusiastic: Stef Bos calls him "one of the best songwriters in the Netherlands", music magazine OOR describes him as "an Americana artist of stature" and 8weekly sees "a rising star in his almost self-created music genre".

He downplays it all with Brabant pragmatism - "The Mozart of the mediocre", he says - but that says more about his self-irony than about his ambition or quality.
