June 1940: France surrenders to the German army and signs the armistice. As the country descends into chaos, one man refuses to accept defeat - General Charles de Gaulle.
Fleeing as a state enemy, without military support or any hope, he travels to London to salvage the remnants of his fallen homeland. His conviction is unshakeable: a free France and a Europe that does not lay down its weapons against Nazi Germany.
