About: Symphonie fantastique

Symphonie fantastique is a programmatic symphony by French composer Hector Berlioz, completed in 1830. Across five movements it follows an artist who, consumed by unrequited love, takes opium and plunges into a series of visions - a ball, a pastoral scene, a march to the scaffold and a witches' sabbath. Its bold orchestration made it one of the most influential works of the Romantic era.
