Suzan Veneman Sextet
Composer and trumpeter Suzan Veneman performs with her sextet to celebrate her new album The Art of Letting Go. The album features three wind instruments at its core, tightly interwoven with colorful harmonies supported by a layered rhythm section. Thematically, it explores the process of letting go - through darkness and back toward light.
Veneman studied in the United States and has since built a reputation in the Netherlands as a composer and arranger. She was invited by trumpeter Dave Douglas to write new music for his Festival of New Trumpet Music. Her sextet brings together prominent names from contemporary Dutch jazz.
De Volkskrant ranked The Art of Letting Go among the strongest Dutch jazz albums of 2025. Jazzenzo wrote that the ensemble "deserves to be counted among the exceptional, not only within but also outside the Netherlands."
Line-up: Suzan Veneman (trumpet), Vincent Veneman (trombone), Jasper van Damme (saxophone), Timothy Banchet (piano & keys), Tijs Klaassen (bass), Wouter Kühne (drums).
