Artvark Saxophone Quartet

Artvark Saxophone Quartet presents Four Fathers, the second part of their trilogy following the album Mother of Thousand. The quartet explores fatherhood as a theme - as complex, raw and tender as the music itself. Four musicians take the stage: Rolf Delfos and Bart Wirtz on alto saxophone, Mete Erker on tenor saxophone and Peter Broekhuizen on baritone saxophone.

Artvark's music moves between structure and improvisation. For Four Fathers, they continued working on acoustic recordings in their own studio. In post-production, sounds were shaped, deepened and expanded, giving the album a layered character with careful attention to space and texture.

The quartet has previously performed at the North Sea Jazz Festival, Wonderfeel and Lowlands. In the past they have collaborated with jazz drummer Peter Erskine, composer Philip Glass, soprano Claron McFadden and Senegalese master drummer Doudou N'Diaye Rose.
