Interdisciplinary Shorts Night (NFF x Musician 3.0 x DNH)
The Nederlands Film Festival and De Nijverheid present the Interdisciplinary Shorts Night: three short films, each preceded by a live performance from students of the Musician 3.0 programme at HKU Utrecht Conservatorium. The students drew inspiration from one of the selected films and created a short performance as an introduction. After each film, there is a Q&A with the filmmakers.
The films
Aftertouch ('16) - On an ordinary film evening, a couple decides to hit each other, with mutual consent. What begins as a curious experiment quickly becomes an uncomfortable negotiation between safety and spontaneity, testing both their desire and their commitment. As the game escalates, the contours of their relationship come into sharper focus.
How To dance ('10) - When every movement is observed, the body learns to communicate in new ways and experiences freedom not merely as an idea, but as a vibration; a dance manifesto under surveillance.
Breaking Walls ('23) - Chinese journalist and activist Hoi Yi fights against the global rise of surveillance and censorship, while suppressing his queer identity for his family. His personal repression mirrors his commitment to others' freedom, as he helps Iranian journalists circumvent censorship.
The performers
