Ton Steine Scherben is regarded as one of the most influential and radical rock bands in German music history. Founded in 1970, the band grew under the leadership of frontman Rio Reiser to become the musical voice of the left-radical movement, the squatter scene, and protest culture in West Germany and West Berlin. Their uncompromising, socially critical lyrics and raw rock sound produced classics such as "Macht kaputt was euch kaputt macht" and "Keine Macht für Niemand" - songs that continued to resonate across generations.

Music and activism were inseparably intertwined for the band: they founded their own independent label, played at demonstrations and in squatted buildings, and stood at the centre of the political reality of their time. At the notorious Love and Peace Festival on Fehmarn, they cemented their legendary status. Ton Steine Scherben showed that rock music could be more than entertainment - a tool for resistance, community, and change.
