Berlage's Vision
A multidisciplinary performance combining music, text and image with the Berlage Saxophone Quartet and Vincent Bijlo.
Vincent Bijlo (born 1965) is a Dutch cabaret performer, writer, musician and columnist who has been blind since birth and increasingly deals with hearing loss as well. He won both the audience and personality award at the Leiden Cabaret Festival in 1988, launching a career that has since included dozens of solo shows, several novels and regular newspaper columns. He frequently performs alongside his wife, singer Mariska Reijmerink, weaving his blindness into his work with sharp, personal humour.
Bijlo goes on tour with his New Year's Eve conference 'The World Hasn't Ended Again', together with Mariska Reijmerink, through Dutch theaters.
Bijlo performed during Zomerveren, the live recordings of the NPO Radio 5 program about cabaret and performance art.
In autumn, Bijlo creates the podcast series 'Welling-lit Circles' in the run-up to the elections, recorded in Café Welling in Amsterdam.
Bijlo was back on stage with his year-end show 'Winter Tingles'.
