Týr is a folk metal band from Tórshavn in the Faroe Islands, founded in 1998 and named after the Norse god of war. They blend traditional Faroese folk music with heavy metal, drawing on Norse mythology and Viking history for their subject matter. Nine studio albums - most recently 'Battle Ballads' (2024) - have earned them a devoted following across Europe and North America.
Týr performed on 6 July 2025 during the Pirate Metal Party at the Klokgebouw in Eindhoven.
The band released the new single 'The Rune' in 2025 via Metal Blade Records.
Týr played the second North American tour leg of the 'Battle Ballads' tour from February to March 2025, with shows in cities such as Brooklyn, Tampa and Denver.
The ninth studio album 'Battle Ballads' was released on 12 April 2024 via Metal Blade Records, self-produced by the band and featuring orchestral arrangements.
