Tortoise is a Chicago-based instrumental group that has been shaping post-rock and experimental music since the early 1990s. Their sound draws on jazz, krautrock and electronic textures, built around intricate rhythms and layered arrangements. The 1996 album Millions Now Living Will Never Die remains a touchstone of the genre.
