About
Tortoise is a five-piece instrumental band from Chicago, active since 1990 and widely regarded as one of the defining forces in post-rock. Drawing on jazz, krautrock, dub and electronica, their sound resists easy categorisation. Albums such as Millions Now Living Will Never Die (1996) and TNT (1998) shaped an entire genre; in 2025 the band returned after nine years with their eighth studio album, Touch.
