The Obsessed is an American doom metal band from Potomac, Maryland, founded by guitarist and vocalist Scott 'Wino' Weinrich, who also made his name with Saint Vitus and Spirit Caravan. Widely regarded as one of the architects of modern doom metal, the band draws heavily on the Black Sabbath tradition. Their 1994 album 'The Church Within' remains a cult cornerstone of the genre. After reuniting in 2016, they released their fifth studio album 'Gilded Sorrow' in 2024 on Ripple Music, now performing as a four-piece.
Bob Pantella (Monster Magnet, The Atomic Bitchwax) joins as new drummer, after Brian Costantino left the band for personal reasons.
The Obsessed announces an extensive European tour for autumn 2025, with performances at Desertfest, Up In Smoke and Keep It True Festival.
On select shows during the European tour, the band plays 'The Church Within' (1994) in full for the first time in decades.
The fifth studio album 'Gilded Sorrow' is released on February 16, 2024 via Ripple Music - the first album in seven years and the first as a quartet.
The Obsessed announces a US spring tour in support of 'Gilded Sorrow', with the single 'Realize a Dream' as a preview.
