The Hacker is the stage name of Michel Amato (born 1972 in Grenoble), a French DJ, producer and remixer widely regarded as one of the founding figures of electroclash. He took his alias from a track by Detroit techno pioneer Jeff Mills. His partnership with Miss Kittin - yielding hits like 'Champagne' (1998) and 'Frank Sinatra' (2001) on DJ Hell's International Deejay Gigolo label - made them one of the most iconic duos in European electronic music. In 1998 he co-founded Goodlife Records in Grenoble alongside Oxia and Alex Reynaud.
