The Dubliners were an Irish folk band founded in Dublin in 1962 - originally called The Ronnie Drew Ballad Group, later renamed after James Joyce's short story collection. Fronted by Ronnie Drew and Luke Kelly, they brought traditional Irish folk songs, street ballads and instrumentals to audiences worldwide and are regarded as one of the most influential Irish acts of the twentieth century. Their breakthrough single 'Seven Drunken Nights' (1967) reached number one in Ireland and number seven in the UK charts despite a ban by national broadcaster RTÉ. After fifty years and over thirty million records sold, they concluded their active career in 2012.
The Dubliners Encore, the official theater show created by John Sheahan and music director Phil Coulter, toured in April 2026 through nine Irish cities, including Cork, Belfast and Killarney.
