About

The Congos are a Jamaican roots reggae vocal group founded in the 1970s by Cedric Myton and Roydel Johnson. Their debut album Heart of the Congos (1977), produced by Lee "Scratch" Perry at his Black Ark Studio, is widely regarded as one of the greatest reggae records ever made. Myton's distinctive falsetto, paired with Johnson's tenor and later Watty Burnett's baritone, gave the group a sound that has influenced generations of reggae artists. They continue to tour Europe and release new music.
