The Black Atlantic is the folk project of Dutch singer-songwriter Geert van der Velde, originally from Groningen. Van der Velde, formerly the vocalist of American metalcore band Shai Hulud, started the project in 2006 and released the debut album 'Reverence for Fallen Trees' in 2009 - an intimate, melancholic record built on layered vocal harmonies and sparse acoustic arrangements. The album was released for free worldwide and reached tens of thousands of listeners.
Na zeven jaar afwezigheid keert The Black Atlantic terug naar het podium met de 'Work in the Dark Tour' door Nederland en Duitsland.
De tournee wordt voor het eerst als volledige band gespeeld en bevat naast oud materiaal ook nieuwe nummers als voorproefje op een aankomend album.
Een nieuw studioalbum van The Black Atlantic staat gepland voor 2027.
