About

The Animals are an English rock band from Newcastle upon Tyne, formed in 1962 when singer Eric Burdon joined the Alan Price Rhythm and Blues Combo. Their 1964 recording of 'House of the Rising Sun' reached number one on both sides of the Atlantic and made them one of the defining acts of the British Invasion. Known for a gritty, blues-driven sound, they scored further hits with 'We Gotta Get Out of This Place' and 'Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood', influencing generations of rock musicians. The original lineup was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994.
