Tasha (full name Tasha Viets-VanLear) is an American singer-songwriter from the Albany Park neighbourhood of Chicago, known for intimate indie folk and chamber folk songs about longing, loss and personal change. She released her debut album Alone at Last in 2018 on Father/Daughter Records, and her fourth album You Are Spring! arrived in June 2026 on Bayonet Records, recorded in Los Angeles with guitarist Gregory Uhlmann. She also performed in the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical Illinoise, an adaptation of Sufjan Stevens' album Illinois.
You Are Spring!, the fourth studio album by Tasha, was released on June 26, 2026 via Bayonet Records and was named Album of the Week by Stereogum.
AllMusic describes You Are Spring! as an album on which Tasha 'fully embraces a gentle, intricate chamber folk' - partly inspired by her move from Chicago to New York.
The opening track 'Spring' is an a-capella collaboration with Jamila Woods and L'Rain, inspired by a poem by Gwendolyn Brooks.
Tasha released her third album All This and So Much More in September 2024 via Bayonet Records, shortly after moving to New York.
Tasha joined the cast of the Broadway musical Illinoise, an adaptation of Sufjan Stevens' album Illinois, which later won a Tony Award.
