Tanya Donelly (Newport, Rhode Island, 1966) is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist who helped shape alternative rock in the 1980s and 90s. She co-founded Throwing Muses with stepsister Kristin Hersh, appeared on the first Breeders album, and broke through as the frontwoman of Belly, whose debut Star (1993) earned her a Grammy nomination for the hit 'Feed the Tree'. She has since maintained a solo career that weaves together indie rock and folk, anchored by her distinctively melodic voice.
Tanya Donelly and guitarist Chris Brokaw released the EP 'The Undone is Done Again' on April 17, 2026 via Fire Records - a collection of medieval folk songs sung in Latin and Middle English.
The EP was also released on yellow vinyl as part of Record Store Day 2026.
The Quietus praised the EP as 'a startlingly bare four track E.P. of Latin madrigals' and called Donelly's singing 'vertiginous'.
Donelly appeared as a surprise guest at Gang of Four's farewell tour in Boston, where she performed 'We Live As We Dream, Alone' together with the band.
Donelly and Brokaw announced a series of live shows in support of the EP, including a performance in Haarlem on November 13, 2026.
