About

Speedy J is the stage name of Jochem George Paap (Rotterdam, 14 February 1969), a DJ and producer widely regarded as one of the first techno artists to emerge from the Benelux. He broke through with the minimal techno track 'Pullover' (1992) and built his reputation on releases for Plus 8, Warp and NovaMute. His debut album 'Ginger' (1993), part of Warp's landmark Artificial Intelligence series, remains a touchstone of the genre. Alongside his solo work, he runs the Rotterdam-based label and studio Electric Deluxe and has collaborated with artists including Chris Liebing and Surgeon.
