Special Request is the alias British DJ and producer Paul Woolford (Leeds, 1976) uses to explore hard, dark techno and rave sounds. Raised on pirate radio and the Back to Basics club night in Leeds, he channels the raw energy of 1990s UK hardcore and jungle under this name. His debut album as Special Request, 'Soul Music', appeared on Houndstooth in 2013, and he has since built a prolific catalogue spanning gritty techno 12-inches and the 2021 DJ-Kicks compilation. Under his own name he also scored mainstream success, including the 2× platinum single 'Looking for Me' with Diplo and Kareen Lomax.
