Sef
Sef takes the stage at AFAS Live with an energetic and personal concert performance.
Sef, born Yousef Gnaoui (Amsterdam, 1984), is a Dutch-Moroccan rapper, singer-songwriter and creative director who has been one of the most distinctive voices in Dutch pop music for over two decades. He first broke through as a member of Flinke Namen before establishing a solo career with De Leven (2011), a record whose title track is now part of the Canon of Dutch Pop Music. His socially engaged albums - including Ik Zou Voor Veel Kunnen Sterven Maar Niet Voor Een Vlag (2023) and lieve monsters (2025) - have earned him multiple Edison awards and 3voor12 prizes. Beyond his own music he works as a director and creative director for other artists' live productions.
Sef won an Edison in March 2026 in the Album of the Year category for lieve monsters.
The National Committee 4 and 5 May withdrew in March 2026 the invitation to Sef as ambassador for National Liberation Day, due to his outspoken positions on the conflict in Gaza.
On 6 February 2026, Sef and Abel (Hang Youth) released their joint album IJsland 2, which was announced on 2 January.
lieve monsters was named the best Dutch album of the year in December 2025 by VPRO 3voor12; Sef received the award backstage at Paradiso.
Sef announced in November 2025 his biggest solo show ever: a performance at AFAS Live on 10 December 2026.
