Ruth Jacott (born 2 September 1960 in Paramaribo, Suriname) is a Surinamese-Dutch singer who has been a fixture of Dutch popular music for over four decades. She first made her name in musical theatre - with roles in Cats and A Night at the Cotton Club - before reaching a wider audience in 1993 when she represented the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest in Dublin with 'Vrede', finishing sixth. She has since released nine Dutch-language albums, four of which reached the Top Ten, and has received both the Silver and Golden Harp awards.
