Robert Landfermann (born 1982 in Oberwinter) is a German double bassist and composer working across creative jazz and free improvisation. He studied at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln under Dieter Manderscheid, whose professorship he took over in May 2022, and has performed everywhere from the Concertgebouw Amsterdam to the Sydney Opera House. A co-founder of the Cologne artists' collective KLAENG and the regular bassist in the Pablo Held Trio - which John Scofield called 'one of the great bands in music today' - he has won the WDR and SWR jazz prizes and the Deutscher Jazzpreis Bass national 2022.
