Ranaa Choir Ensemble

About

Rana Choir is a women's ensemble from Jaffa, Israel, founded in 2008 by conductor Mika Danny and artistic director Idan Toledano. It is the only Arab-Jewish women's choir in Israel, bringing together Jewish, Muslim and Christian singers of different generations who rehearse weekly and perform folk songs and original material in Hebrew and Arabic, alongside repertoire in Ladino, Yiddish and Farsi. Originally a project of Jaffa's Arab-Jewish community centre, the choir became an independent ensemble in 2016 and has since become known as a rare example of grassroots coexistence work in the mixed city.
