Placebo are a British-Belgian alternative rock band formed in London in 1994 by vocalist-guitarist Brian Molko and bassist-guitarist Stefan Olsdal. Their 1996 self-titled debut stood apart from the Britpop era with its unflinching take on sexuality, addiction and alienation, earning them a devoted global following. Eight studio albums and multiple platinum certifications later, the duo remain one of the most distinctive voices in alternative rock.
