Pictures at an Exhibition

Pictures at an Exhibition is a piano suite composed by Modest Mussorgsky in 1874 as a tribute to his late friend, the artist Viktor Hartmann. Its ten movements draw on works shown at a posthumous exhibition of Hartmann's art. The piece is best known today through Maurice Ravel's orchestration from 1922.
