Perturbator is the project of Parisian musician James Kent (born 1993), who fuses synthwave with industrial electronics into a dark, cinematic sound. Albums like Dangerous Days and New Model draw heavily on 1980s sci-fi and horror aesthetics. Kent, son of British music critic Nick Kent, started out as a black metal guitarist before switching to electronic music in 2012. His sixth album Age of Aquarius came out in October 2025 on Nuclear Blast Records, featuring collaborations with Ulver, Alcest and Author & Punisher.

Perturbator went on a European headliner tour with Gost and Kælan Mikla as support, playing his largest venues to date, including two nights at the Parisian Bataclan.
Perturbator signed a contract with the renowned metal record label Nuclear Blast Records for future projects.
Perturbator announced an Australian tour in September 2026 together with HEALTH, followed by a new European headliner tour in November and December 2026.
Perturbator is scheduled for December 8, 2026 at AFAS Live in Amsterdam as part of his European tour.
