Mother's Finest is an American funk-rock band from Atlanta, Georgia, founded in 1970 by vocalists Joyce "Baby Jean" Kennedy and Glenn "Doc" Murdock alongside guitarist Gary "Moses Mo" Moore and bassist Jerry "Wyzard" Seay. Blending heavy rock guitars with funk, soul and R&B well ahead of their time, they laid groundwork that later bands like Living Colour and Red Hot Chili Peppers would build on. All four of their albums released between 1976 and 1979 went gold, and a landmark 1978 Rockpalast broadcast in Germany cemented a cult following in Europe that has never faded. They were inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in 2011.
Drummer Dion Murdock, son of founders Joyce Kennedy and Glenn Murdock, left the band after more than thirty years and was replaced by R'Jay Nichelle.
