Morrissey
British pop-rock artist Morrissey takes the stage at 013 in Tilburg.
Morrissey (born Steven Patrick Morrissey, 22 May 1959, Manchester) rose to prominence as the frontman and lyricist of The Smiths, one of the defining British bands of the 1980s. After the band split in 1987, he built a solo career spanning fourteen studio albums, including Viva Hate (1988), Your Arsenal (1992) and You Are the Quarry (2004). His sharp, literary lyrics and outspoken personality have made him a cult figure in alternative music - as divisive as he is beloved.
Morrissey released his fourteenth solo album Make-Up Is a Lie on March 6, 2026 via Sire/Warner Bros., his first studio album in six years.
Morrissey announced an extensive new tour for the summer and winter of 2026, with two Dutch dates in Rotterdam (February) and Tilburg (December).
Morrissey signed a new record contract with Sire Records in December 2025, the label that also released The Smiths' music in the US in the 1980s.
Morrissey cancelled his entire South American tour in November 2025 due to 'extreme exhaustion', shortly after he had also cancelled two shows in Mexico.
Morrissey claimed in September 2025 via social media that he wanted to sell all his business interests in The Smiths, with no further announcement following.
