About
Morgenshtern (born Alisher Tagirovich Valeyev on 17 February 1998 in Ufa, Russia) is a Russian rapper, singer-songwriter and producer who broke through in 2017 with YouTube parodies before building one of the most-streamed careers in Russian-language hip-hop. His music spans trap, pop and, more recently, rock, and his provocative public persona has repeatedly drawn attention from both media and Russian authorities. He left Russia in late 2021 following drug-trafficking allegations and has since been based abroad, performing across Europe and North America. In June 2026 he legally changed his name to Israel Yehuda Morgenshtern after converting to Judaism.
