Mikael Stanne (Gothenburg, 1974) is a Swedish vocalist and the frontman of Dark Tranquillity, one of the founding bands of the Gothenburg melodic death metal scene. As the sole remaining original member, he has steered the band through thirteen studio albums, combining ferocious growls with clean singing. Beyond Dark Tranquillity, he fronts The Halo Effect - a supergroup of former In Flames members - and is also active in Grand Cadaver and Cemetery Skyline.
Dark Tranquillity has started writing their fourteenth studio album, with the aim of completing it by the end of 2026 and releasing it in autumn 2027.
The Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra performs on 3, 4 and 5 December 2026 three concerts under the name 'The Gothenburg Sound', with orchestral arrangements of songs by Dark Tranquillity, In Flames and At The Gates.
Stanne confirmed that The Halo Effect is already working on their third studio album, which may be released in 2026.
