Macy Gray (born Natalie McIntyre, September 6, 1967, in Canton, Ohio) is an American R&B and soul singer who broke through worldwide with her debut album On How Life Is (1999) and the hit 'I Try', earning her a Grammy for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. Her unmistakably raspy voice - mocked in childhood, later her trademark - and an eclectic style spanning jazz, soul and hip-hop made her one of the most recognisable voices of her generation. With over 25 million records sold, ten studio albums and film roles in Training Day and Spider-Man, she has long since proven herself far more than a one-hit wonder.
Macy Gray announced 'The Encore Tour' for Australia and New Zealand in September and October 2026, her biggest tour in the region so far, with live premieres of songs from the upcoming album The Trouble with the Truth.
