Lucas Jussen (born 1993 in Hilversum) is a Dutch pianist who, together with his younger brother Arthur, forms one of the most sought-after piano duos on the international concert circuit. Growing up in a musical family, Lucas later studied with Menahem Pressler in the United States and Dmitri Bashkirov in Madrid, and both brothers were mentored for many years by the Portuguese pianist Maria João Pires. Since signing with Deutsche Grammophon in 2010, they have performed with orchestras including the Berliner Philharmoniker, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
Lucas & Arthur Jussen won the Opus Klassik 2026 in the category Live-Performance des Jahres Ensemble/Orchester, together with percussionists Alexej Gerassimez and Emil Kuyumcuyan.
Lucas and Arthur Jussen made their long-awaited debut with the Berliner Philharmoniker in February 2026, under the direction of Michael Sanderling, with Mozart's Concerto for two pianos KV 365 as the centerpiece of the program.
The 2026/27 season opens with a four-week tour through Australia, with concerts at the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
In April 2026, Lucas and Arthur Jussen brought the world premiere of a new double concerto by composer Andrew Norman, with the Boston Symphony Orchestra under Susanna Mälkki.
In May 2025, the album 'Cantus' was released on Deutsche Grammophon, dedicated to chorales by Bach, Brahms, Fabel and Arvo Pärt.
