Lizz Wright (born January 22, 1980, in Hahira, Georgia) is an American jazz and gospel singer whose full contralto voice moves fluidly across jazz, soul, blues, and gospel. The daughter of a minister, she grew up singing in her father's church choir before signing to Verve Records, where her debut album Salt (2003) reached the top of Billboard's Contemporary Jazz Chart. After years on major labels, she founded her own Blues & Greens Records in 2022 and released the studio album Shadow in 2024.
