About

Le Concert Spirituel is a French choir and orchestra founded in 1987 by conductor and harpsichordist Hervé Niquet, with the aim of reviving the great works of the French Baroque repertoire on period instruments. Named after the first private concert society in France - an 18th-century Parisian institution - the ensemble has grown into one of the world's leading early-music groups, performing at venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées and the Palace of Versailles. Alongside sacred music and grand motets, it champions forgotten Baroque operas, and has received awards including the Echo Klassik Award, the Edison Award and the 2020 Liliane Bettencourt Prize for choral singing.
