Krystian Zimerman is a Polish pianist widely regarded as one of the finest classical soloists of his generation. He rose to international prominence after winning the Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw in 1975 at the age of seventeen. His long-standing collaboration with Leonard Bernstein and his meticulous, deeply considered interpretations of Schubert, Brahms and Chopin have earned him near-universal acclaim. Zimerman always travels with his own concert grand and deliberately limits his public appearances, making each performance a rare event.
