Kölsch is the stage name of Danish DJ and producer Rune Reilly Kølsch, born in 1977 in Copenhagen's Freetown Christiania. He built his reputation on melodic, emotionally charged techno, most notably through his album trilogy 1977, 1983 and 1989 on Cologne's Kompakt label. Beyond his solo work he has collaborated with Coldplay, London Grammar and Imogen Heap, and runs his own imprint IPSO.
Kölsch released his sixth studio album KINEMA, a ten-track work whose title is derived from the Greek word for 'movement'.
The accompanying live show 'Kölsch and the Machine' premiered on 23 October during Amsterdam Dance Event and subsequently toured through Berlin, London, Paris, Antwerp and Madrid.
Kölsch performed on the main stage of Tomorrowland Belgium 2025 and announced his new live project there.
Kölsch released his fifth album I Talk To Water via Kompakt, an introspective work that builds on his personal album series.
