The Night of Rumi
A multilingual festival celebrating the Persian poet Rumi through music, poetry and storytelling, featuring artists performing in Persian, Arabic, Dutch and Turkish traditions.
Karima El Fillali (born 1987 in Westland) is a Dutch-Moroccan singer who blends centuries-old Sufi poetry with her own compositions and traditional Arabic vocal techniques. Raised between two cultures, she travelled to Morocco to study tarab, Quranic recitation and Sufi singing under a master teacher. Her debut record Bihar El Hawa (2021) sets words by mystics such as Al-Hallaj and Ibn Arabi to music, and in 2024 she made her main-hall debut at the Muziekgebouw with a 4DSOUND production. She also regularly performs with the Amsterdam Andalusian Orchestra, including a tribute to Egyptian diva Oum Kalthoum.
A new concert by Karima El Fillali has been announced at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.
She performed as a guest during the release party of Indira Paganotto in London.
In May 2025 she performed four intimate 24chambers club shows in Amsterdam, Utrecht, Rotterdam and Eindhoven.
In early 2025 she announced a tribute to Oum Kalthoum with the Amsterdam Andalusian Orchestra in theater De Regentes.
In May 2024 she gave her long-awaited solo show in the Grand Hall of the Muziekgebouw, enhanced with 4DSOUND spatial sound.
