Joris Teepe presents: NYCTG
Joris Teepe presents NYCTG, featuring world-class jazz musicians in an intimate setting.
Joris Teepe (b. 1962, The Hague) is a Dutch jazz double bassist, composer, arranger and big-band leader who moved to New York in 1992 after studying at the Amsterdam conservatory. He became a sought-after sideman for names such as Benny Golson, Billy Hart, Randy Brecker and Rashied Ali, spending nine years in the latter's quintet. Alongside his own projects, including a decades-long partnership with saxophonist Don Braden, Teepe is director of jazz studies at the Prince Claus Conservatoire in Groningen, where he founded the 'New York Comes to Groningen' program.
Teepe performed with his Trio of Liberty and Don Braden at SPOT/De Oosterpoort in Groningen, as part of the New York Comes to Groningen series and to celebrate their new cd Chemistry.
Teepe released the album Messages From The Bassist on G2 Records.
His 22nd album as a leader, The American Dream Today, was released on Planet Arts Recordings and combines two suites written twelve years apart.
Survival Records released recordings from 2002 of Rashied Ali with Frank Lowe and a young Joris Teepe on vinyl.
